My name is Birdie, and I eat no for breakfast.

impossible girl: A Poem

impenetrable skin
words cannot get in
gridlock teeth
and hot streams
of acid
down your cheeks

impossible girl
with armor for skin
don't swallow your words
but don't let them in

don't let others in
unless you want to feel
unless you want to hurt
unless you want to grow

They Say To: A Poem

They say to
write what you know,
so I can't write it
unless I've felt it
or done it.

Do you see my poetry
getting happier?

You're the poet of my life.

Write my story in your blood
and I'll write yours in mine.

Brain and Heart: A Poem

Your brain and heart are organs.
They can be sick
just like
any
other
part of you.

Fading: A Poem

I can't tell if my chest pain is
an anxiety attack or a heart attack.

What's the difference between
an anxiety attack and a panic attack,
anyway?

delusions
                delusions
are all I think
when I close my eyes

zig zag
            zig zag

prick my heart with a needle
so it can pop already

                                      kabloom

when you’re a kid: A Poem

when you're a kid
you don't mind
if the colors don't match

a quilted blanket
of mix-matched squares
is as beautiful as
Egyptian silk
so long as it's soft

snappy: A Poem

snap a rubberband
on my wrist

and shove an ice cube
down my throat

sensory overload
whatever distracts

zit brain: A Poem

sometimes I want to pop my brain
like it's a pimple

wish I could get over this
like a phase of puberty

my depression is more like adult acne
that I've had since infancy

maybe the peroxide goes in the mouth
not in the skin

is what I would say

ramblings: A Poem

you're the girl
covered in words
I mean scars
I mean hearts

What are you so afraid of?
What are you so angry for?
So mad about?

don't pout
be brave
don't shave

unless you want to
slip into old habits
slit a bit of time off
and steal away a few pieces of your mind

used up: A Poem

fanned pages
blister
wrinkle
water burned
born from my soul
blister black
fickle
purple
pain
fire throat
fire throat

Help: A Poem

How can you
ask for help
from behind a door
you locked?
